Well, it is here, and almost gone. #IPADay was more than a success. A trip to the SweetWater Brewery proved to be an excellent decision. Their selection of IPA's today were both unique and delicious.Throughout the 2 hours the tasting room was open, I believe they went through 14 different india pale ale variations. Could be wrong, but it was something close to that. Originally they listed 10 unique brews but then brought out some others as the evening progressed and they ran out of certain ones. I was able to snag 7 different brews and took some notes on each, just like I did for [Yazoo Brewery].
Since it is late I am going to save the more detailed post about IPA's and today's event, and post up the few pictures I got and the write up for each of the brews I had.
Cheers, and Happy IPA Day!
Jim beam barrel aged IPABold whiskey aroma with smooth mild taste just like the real thing. Very mellow but distant IPA taste.
Jack Daniels barrel aged IPA
Not as intense aroma as JB bit finishes with the trademark flavor. Tastes close to a typical SweetWater IPA with the hops profile.
Wet Dream fresh hopped IPA
Typical SweetWater IPA aroma but has an almost candied taste. Really good. Finishes smooth and clean.
Big Medlin Double IPA
Difficult to describe, but very tasty. Citrus notes and finishes with a burst of distinct hops. More bitterness than first three IPAs.
Browneyed buckeye Brown Double IPA
vibrant cascade hops aroma that becomes a complex brown ale-IPA hybrid flavor. Rich, bitter, and hoppy. Delicious.
Crank Tank Rye'd Ale
Rye Ale - not an IPA but tapped at #IPADay to meet demand. One of my favorites. Finishes with a taste of rye bread and has a clean taste. Goldilocks on the bitter:hops profile. Created for the co-hosted Camp Twin Lakes philanthropy cycling event in 2010.
Sour Brown
Malty and tart smell, somewhat difficult to describe. No overpowering taste, but you can taste both sour and brown aspects to it. Sour in a good way. Pretty sure this was a unique brew that has not been made too many times before. I liked it.
