Stop me if you've heard this one before, but this is a really good beer that is golden in color, and has a good balance between the hops, bitterness, and malts. Rest assured that the next handful of brews will be varied in styles. Not to say that I don't wish I could drink an IPA every single day. Because that would be awesome. But the whole point of this blog is to taste everything out there! And also to write things that are somewhat interesting.Anyways, I feel that it is appropriate to do a little recap and ranking of the beers I've had this week. I don't want to bring up my [mix-up] from earlier, but I will only be listing the actual IPAs that found their way to my glass. So here we go.
- Founders - Centennial IPA
- Dogfish Head - 60 Minute IPA
- SweetWater - Wet Dream
- Southern Tier - India Pale Ale
- SweetWater - Browneyed Buckeye (brown double IPA)
- 21st Amendment - Hops Crisis! (imperial IPA)
- Terrapin - Hopsecutioner
- SweetWater - Big Medlin (double IPA)
- SweetWater- Jim Beam aged IPA
- SweetWater - Jack Daniels aged IPA
I think that the way this turned out isn't all that surprising. With the exception of the Browneyed Buckeye because that one was just surprisingly good when I didn't expect it to be. The IPA's that were aged were definitely good and worth trying but I could not see myself wanting to have them on a regular basis. It is more interesting to taste the uniqueness of them every once in a while. And when you look at the top of the list you can find, at least in my opinion, some of the more major players in the craft beer world. They undoubtedly got their because they make excellent beer.
This 'theme week' was really enjoyable and I look forward to doing more of these as the year progresses. I've got a running list of beers that I want to try, to write about, and to simply drink again. For now I will try to change it up and expand my horizons with other styles of beer, but fairly soon you can expect a week long of beers that have a common theme. (Suggestions are welcomed!)
